  Terrance Odean, UC Berkeley

Terrance Odean is the Rudd Family Foundation Professor of Finance Group at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. He is an advisory editor of the Financial Planning Review, a member of the Journal of Investment Consulting editorial advisory board and of the Russell Sage Behavioral Economics Roundtable and is a Wall Street Journal Expert Panelist. In 2016, he received the James R Vertin Award from the CFA Institute for research notable for its relevance and enduring value to investment professionals. He has been an editor and an associate editor of the Review of Financial Studies, an associate editor of the Journal of Finance, a co-editor of a special issue of Management Science, an associate editor at the Journal of Behavioral Finance, a director of UC Berkeley’s Experimental Social Science Laboratory, a member of the Russell Investments Academic Advisory Board, a member of the WU Gutmann Center Academic Advisory Board at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, a visiting professor at the University of Stavanger, Norway, chair of the Haas Finance Group, and the Willis H. Booth Professor of Finance and Banking. As an undergraduate at UC Berkeley, Odean studied Judgment and Decision Making with the 2002 Nobel Laureate in Economics, Daniel Kahneman.

 Judith Rodin, The Rockefeller Foundation

Judith Rodin is a pioneer, innovator, change-maker and global thought-leader. For over two decades, Rodin led and transformed two global institutions: The Rockefeller Foundation and the University of Pennsylvania. A research psychologist by training, she was one of the pioneers of the behavioral medicine and health psychology movements. Dr. Rodin’s leadership ushered The Rockefeller Foundation into a new era of strategic philanthropy that emphasized partnerships with business, government, and the philanthropic community to address and solve for the complex challenges of the 21st century. At Penn, Dr. Rodin presided over an unprecedented decade of growth and progress that transformed the institution, its campus, and the community, taking the university from sixteenth to fourth in U.S. News and World Report national rankings. The University also engineered a comprehensive, internationally acclaimed neighborhood revitalization program in West Philadelphia. Rodin serves as a member of the board for several leading corporations and many non-profits. She has authored more than 200 academic articles and chapters, and has written or co-written 15 books, including The Resilience Dividend: Being Strong in a World Where Things Go Wrong and her most recent Making Money Moral: How a New Wave of Visionaries is Linking Purpose and Profit.

Herb Lin Herb Lin

 Dr. Herbert Lin has been senior research scholar and Hank J. Holland Fellow at Stanford University since 2015.  He served from 1990 through 2014 as Chief Scientist of the Computer Science and Telecommunications Board of the National Academies.  Prior to his National Academies service, he was a professional staff member and staff scientist for the House Armed Services Committee (1986-1990). He was also a member of President Obama’s Commission on Enhancing National Cybersecurity and a commissioner on the Aspen Commission on Information Disorder.  In 2019, he was elected a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.  He received his doctorate in physics from MIT.

 Emilio Calvano, University of Rome - Tor Vergata

Emilio Calvano (PhD, Toulouse School of Economics, 2008) is a full professor of Economics at the University of Rome - Tor Vergata, associate faculty at the Toulouse School of Economics and research fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research in London (CEPR). He is an applied theoretical economist whose research mainly focuses on the theory of Industrial Organization. He has published in top international peer-reviewed outlets such as Science Magazine, American Economic Review, Management Science, American Economic Journal: Microeconomics, Economic Journal and International Journal of Industrial Organization and is associate editor at the Journal of Industrial Economics. His research interests include the economics of artificial intelligence, the economics of platforms, information economics and competition policy. His recent work studies the impact of AI powered algorithms (such as pricing software and recommender systems) on digital markets.

 Jonathan Berk, Stanford

Jonathan Berk is the A.P. Giannini Professor of Finance at the Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB). His research is primarily theoretical in nature and covers a broad range of topics in finance, including delegated money management; the pricing of financial assets; valuing a firm’s growth potential; the capital structure decision; and the interaction between labor markets and financial markets. He has also explored individual rationality in an experimental setting.

Professor Berk has coauthored two finance textbooks: Corporate Finance and Fundamentals in Finance. The first edition of Corporate Finance is the most successful first edition textbook ever published in financial economics, and is a standard text in almost all top MBA programs around the world. At the GSB, he teaches courses in Institutional Money Management and Critical Analytical Thinking.

 Jeff Bohn, One Concern

Dr. Bohn is Chief Strategy Officer for One Concern, a California-based resilience technology company. He is also a board member and researcher at the Consortium for Data Analytics in Risk (CDAR) at U.C. Berkeley. He is a member of Reprisk’s Advisory Board in Zürich and is an advisor to, and investor in, several Fintech & Insurtech start-ups. Most recently, he was the Chief Research & Innovation Officer at the Swiss Re Institute, which he established several years ago in Zürich. In the past, he served as Chief Science Officer at State Street Global Exchange in San Francisco. Before moving back to California, he established the Portfolio Analytics and Valuation Department within State Street Global Markets Japan in Tokyo. Dr. Bohn often conducts seminars on topics ranging from risk & portfolio management to machine learning. He has published widely in the area of credit risk. He co-authored with Roger Stein Active Credit Portfolio Management in Practice (Wiley, 2009). His recent research focuses on resilience modeling, ESG investing, socially responsible machine intelligence, causal inference to improve machine-learning interpretability, quantum computing, and machine-intelligence-enabled tools to assess company & urban resilience.

 Lisa Goldberg, CDAR and BlackRock

CDAR co-Director Lisa Goldberg is Professor of the Practice of Economics at University of California, Berkeley and Director of Research at Aperio Group. Dr. Goldberg is a mathematician whose research integrates best practices from industry and academia.  Her work has touched areas as diverse as topology, dynamical systems, quantitative finance, sports statistics and causal inference.  She has published more than 50 articles and is co-author of a book, Portfolio Risk Management, which was published by Princeton University Press in 2010.  Dr. Goldberg is inventor on five patents and has been awarded numerous research grants including an Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship and an NSF Visiting Professorship for Women. She has served on the editorial boards of four quantitative finance journals and two Springer book series. She is a member of the Advisory Council for the Museum of Mathematics.  She serves as an arXiv moderator and is an expert judge for the Moskowitz Prize for Socially Responsible Investing.
